Load Module Systems

WHAT MAKES THEM GREAT:

Ideally Suited for
Rigging & Machinery Moving Activities.

Load Module Systems, one of ASE System’s most versatile products utilize the efficiency of Fluid Film Technology to lift and move loads of any size, shape or weight, without resistance, utilizing our 4 or 6 module configurations. Load Module Systems are truly omnidirectional, requiring no additional force to change direction. Moving delicate or sensitive machines is no problem because an air caster provides no perceptive shock or vibration when moving fragile systems

Load Module Systems are lightweight and easily positioned under a load. Control consoles provide individual pressure regulation to compensate for unequal load distribution. Because Rigging Modules float on a nearly frictionless film of air; loads can often be moved manually, without the need for tow vehicles or winches.

Positioned under any load shape, they provide lift and support wherever it’s needed. With individual capacity ranging from 1/2 ton to 60 tons, rigging systems are available to move anything that isn’t anchored down. The rigging system modules thin profile allows ASE System’s products to be easily inserted under most equipment, eliminating the need for a separate jacking system, as well as providing vertical lift when inflated.

Basic Setup

To achieve stable and controlled flotation of a load, a minimum of three air casters are required to move a load however, four air casters are most commonly used. The load’s vertical center of gravity must not exceed two times the narrowest distance between air casters under the load or the load can become unstable. For instance, if you are moving a rectangle shaped load and the air casters are spaced at 10’ x 6’ on center, the narrowest dimension here is 6’ and so the vertical center of gravity cannot exceed 12 feet, which is 2 times the narrowest dimension in this example.

It is essential that each air caster element remains parallel to the floor at all times. In order to accomplish this, it is imperative that when placing the air casters under the load at least 75 to 80% of the top surface needs to be utilized in order to keep the air caster stable. Angled positioning can reduce or even eliminate the air film, making the load difficult or impossible to move, and potentially damaging the membrane.

The contact surfaces of all air caster elements must be at exactly the same height. Additionally, the surface on which the air caster elements are placed must be sufficiently large and sturdy to prevent instability.

Load Placement

  1. 1Position the air caster elements underneath the object.
  2. 2Connect the air caster elements to compressed air and gradually apply pressure, allowing the rubber membrane to form a seal with the surface, creating an air chamber.
  3. 3Increase the working pressure to lift the object to the required height.
  4. 4Adjust the working pressure carefully to establish an optimal air film, enabling easy movement of the object.
Air caster load placement in four steps: position the elements, apply air to seal, raise the load, then float it on the air film (effective lift height shown)
